I wrote this poem when I was high, 4:20 on April 20.

I have been lost to the waters
To the thrum of the tides
And there under pressure
Of waves which collide
Your words would first soothe me
Then crush me, and I -
Would hide 'neath the surface
Under the weight and sheer size
Of the mountains of guilt
Heaps of generational lies -
Crashing on shorelines
Shaping land into cliffs
With our crest marking land
We should never have touched -
But we did.
And so it's with honor
I dare to recede
Spilling these secrets
For wisdom and need
The shames of our family
To disturb the white shore.
And with respect not by name
But with truth and by pain
To gesture
forgiveness
And then hopefully rain -
And wrap us up warmly
In the spring of our hearts ❤️
Perhaps not understanding
The truth of the dark
And I watch with my honor
I watch our tears melt away
Back into the ocean

To run off and play
